 | I've been writing for over a decade. Early on, taking the advice of many "how to have a successful writing career" advisors (mostly online), I began a blog. Through the years, I've launched 3 more. They were things I had on my |
heart and desired to share. However, in over more than 10 years of writing and "blogging," I've never posted more than a handful of times a year.
My reasons for being an inconsistent blogger are many: inconsistency by nature, time constraints, homeschooling, ministry, writing books, keeping a home, etc. However, I have now realized that maybe I just never was menat to be a blogger. And that's okay!
I also realized that I've never prayed about blogging. I just had something on my heart and threw it out there (when I made the time or randomly found an extra 10 minutes in my day with a few extra ounces of energy.) Too often, this is how we (I) approach things. It is one major aspect of my life I desire to change.
I wonder how different my life would be if I stayed consistent enough to pray over every day and every aspect of my day. If you're anything like me, even if you love the Lord dearly, this world seems to rise up and take over on a regular basis.
Every day life is busy, then we throw in children with learning or physical challenges, illnesses, family members going through crises, natural disasters, delays in plans, job loses, appliances and vehicles that break down, distracted drivers, death. The list of events in this life that distract us and pull at us are endless.
Yet God wants to be in the middle of it all. No, He wants, deserves, and is worthy of being the center of it all. Every aspect of our lives is an opportunity for us to be a part of His glory story. (James, I used it!)
Whether it's changing diapers and wiping noses, welcoming a handful of ladies to a fellowship lunch, givng a speech in front of 1,000 ladies, hugging a friend who's had a really tough week, or blogging a dozen times a year, there is always an chance to love God and others. In the small things and the big things.
As I reviewed my blogs and considered which one(s) to delete and let go, I found myself getting excited about some of the topics again. However, if I haven't been a consistent blogger of any one of my four blogs (not counting this one) over the last decade, why in the world would I think that might change now? So, as I aim to start doing with everything, I will take a step back and take it to the Lord. I'll seek His will for my time, my writing, and my spewing words onto the internet.
I know if He calls me to do it, it will accomplish what He wills, and that, after all, is most important. Whether 1 million people read it, or just the 1 that needed to read it, I will obey. Even in this seemingly very small thing.
I'd love for you to join me! I can't imagine what would happen if we each embarked on a journey of living surrendered to the Master, Creator, Lover God. It is scary to admit we may not know best. To give up the reigns of our lives. But, it is an invitation to greater things than we could ever think, hope or imagine. And that's the life I want.
